Star Wars CCG returned in late October to the Seattle Area with the 2023 Endor Grand Prix. The weekend event concluded with Hayes Hunter defeating Chris Wirfs in the two-game final confrontation match, allowing Hayes to capture yet another Major victory for 2023 after taking down the 2023 World Championship almost a month prior, as well as the 2023 US Nationals event in Minneapolis back in early April.
Rounding out the main event’s top 8 finishers from “Day 1” were Mike Kessling, Jacy Smith, Anthony Howard, Sam Tashima, Ryan Sersen, and Steve Brentson. The weekend also included a Friday evening Team Event won by Blake Silkwood and Ryan Sersen, as well as a Sunday Swiss consolation event taken down by Mike Turner.
The most popular decks played at the event included Hunt Down, EOPs, ISB, & RotS (Vader) for Dark Side, and a good amount of Yoda Communing & Obi-Wan Communing Light. Check out the decklists page for the event to see all the decks used by every player. Be sure to also read up on several tournament reports posted about the weekend over on the Tournament Reports subforum. Thanks to all TR writers for sharing their experiences with the community!
A massive, special thanks go out to Tournament Advocate Chris Schoenthal for being the Tournament Director and the primary overseer for the weekend, as well as Chris Wirfs for being the main cog in securing the venue and handling logistics. Garrett Larson, Bill Kafer, Chris Gogolen, Kendall Halman, Robbie Hendon, Sam Tashima, and Justin Miyashiro deserve an applause for their awesome streaming and commentary coverage for the weekend, as well as stream lead Dan Tartaglione and Joe Olson for coordination. Additionally, a big shout-out goes to the Seattle community in general for helping organize all aspects of the major event, and being warm and welcoming to players from near and far (of all experience levels). Go check out the full listing of people that the Players Committee needed to thank here, and also check out the EGP subforum for pictures and other info recapping the event.
That’s it for Major tournaments this year, but stay tuned for more information on the first Major tournament in 2024, set for Atlanta, GA in January. 2024 is looking to be a fun year for events, so be sure to head over to the Atlanta Event Subforum to watch for more information! See you there!
