The Hotness

I need assistance identifying this set

I found this set. Mint still wrapped in plastic, need help identifying the set itself because there are a variety of packs from other sets

It's not a 'set', it's a random product repack by some wholesaler.

The two on the left aren't even compatible with the SW CCG, they were (failed) attempts to branch out similar new games - YJ was terrible, JM was terrible but had great artwork.

Jabba's Palace was the best expansion, Hoth was decent...most of the others were lacklustre.

In 2001, after Decipher lost its contract to publish Star Wars-themed card games, it liquidated its stock to some wholesaler. They made two "Collectible Card Game" bundles like this. Yours is the first one, identifiable because it has Reflections, Tatooine, and Special Edition card packs. The first series always came with one random starter set and ten random booster packs from literally all of Decipher's Star Wars products: so, SWCCG, Young Jedi CCG, and Jedi Knights TCG.

The second set of bundles was much less interesting—it included another two boosters but no starter, and most of the boosters were from the first three Young Jedi expansions; Jabba's Palace, foreign language, and Unlimited series from SWCCG; and almost no Jedi Knights packs. In California, at least, they were sold at K-Mart near the checkout aisle.

By the mid-2000s, the bundles were gone and Dollar Tree was selling individual packs of mostly Jabba's Palace cards for $1 each.

From 2002-2004, I probably bought 15 or so bundles, and then bought all the packs I could find at Dollar Tree. The last single boosters I ever found were at a Dollar Tree in 2011 and they were surprisingly from Tatooine, I think, rather than Jabba's Palace.

Thanks for that interesting bit Decipher CCG history Derek. I hadn't heard about those 'special' packs as they never made it across the pond even on eBay.

My local Toy-R-Us (UK) did have a load of Special Edition starters going cheap in the early 2000s. I was short of a few extra copies of those SE fixed cards, so managed to grab a few starters before they flew out the shop, then it became a 'if you see anything - buy before someone else does' situation.

There was a welsh game shop I'd visit on holiday. Even now it still has a selection of different CCG starters and boosters but over the last twenty years I've picked it dry of Trek and SW, I grabbed the final Prem and Dag boosters he had on his shelf. The owner's wife would set aside any old Decipher and Precedence CCGs she knew that I collected when ever she stumbled across 'lost' stock out the back while tidying.

I think I'd still grab a similar pack for the marked price just for the fun of opening them if they were sold in the UK. Buying singles off eBay just hasn't got that roller-coaster of excitement vs disappointment like opening a booster. 😊
Thank you so much for the information.
